Being a camp counselor is the hardest job that you will ever love. You’re going to bed exhausted every single night, but you’re so excited to wake up in the morning and do it all again! Every day is full of moments that foster positive relationships, laughter, and the biggest smiles you can possibly imagine.”   - Summer Counselor

What will I do as a counselor?  YOU will be the one that orchestrates the memorable "moments" that make the camp experience so powerful. As an overnight cabin counselor you will work alongside a co-counselor to lead a cabin group of 10-12 campers through their week. Cabin counselors lead camp activities (archery, kayaking, swimming- all training provided) while guiding campers to build strong friendships and to challenge their personal growth.

We have a whole support team backing you up with the tools needed to be successful in creating a summer camp experience like no other for the campers in your care. We do fun, we do crazy, we do outlandish, we do memorable, we do Caring, we do Honest, we do Respect, we do Responsible, we do Faith! You are the front line in implementing an environment that strives to make sure all campers are included as an individual and engaged in the camp experience. You are instrumental in helping them grow in their confidence. You will inspire campers to make this world a better place because they saw it and experienced it at camp.

How will a job as a counselor build my resume? A job as a Summer Camp Counselor provides so much more than most summer opportunities or internships. The American Camp Association agrees (article is well worth the read).  As a camp counselor you are working as a part of a large team to make our operation function each and every day. While we provide extensive training and ongoing coaching, you'll also learn on the job as you go!  Along with all the fun and crazy aspects of camp, you'll be providing education and safety trainings, troubleshooting issues, and making decisions. You will have significant responsibilities, not simply experience as an "observer" in a business.

Being a Summer Camp Counselor gives you significant resume building experience which you can use to craft amazing opportunities for yourself.  It opens doors, not just saying you have a job before, but that you are a hard worker used to long hours and you understand flexible schedules. You know how to work with and lead people from diverse, even global, backgrounds and can troubleshoot problems. You have experience in creating programs and content!

What qualities are you looking for in a counselor? You must have compassion, great listening skills and the ability to relate to kids. We look for applicants who have experience or a strong desire to learn about working with children and who want to have a positive impact in our campers’ lives.
